Double Sided Spring Plunger
MS1142
The Double Sided Spring Plunger is a mechanical locating element with an internal spring and plunger, which differs from a normal spring plunger in that it has a spring plunger head (or ball) at each end to provide elastic pressure in both directions simultaneously.
Structural features
Body Housing: Typically steel or stainless steel with threads for easy mounting in holes or fixtures.
Double-ended Plunger/Ball: Each end has a retractable plunger head or ball.
Internal Spring: Located in the centre, it applies force to both ends simultaneously, allowing both plungers to extend.
Main Functions
Bi-directional positioning: Acts in both directions on the part to ensure that the workpiece is held in place without shifting.
Centring: often used to keep the workpiece in a central position.
Limit/stop: can be used as a bi-directional stop to avoid excessive movement of the part.
Clamping/Compression: Stabilises the part in a certain position through pressure at both ends.
Principle of operation:
In its natural state, the internal spring pushes both heads outward at the same time.
When either head is pressed in by an external force, it compresses the shared internal spring.
Since the springs are shared, the pressure applied to one end also indirectly affects the state of the other end and the force applied.
Designed for durability and dual-action performance, our double sided spring plunger is perfect for high-precision positioning and reliable holding force.
