Ball Rollers
MS3304/5
Ball Rollers are mechanical components utilised for conveying, rotating and positioning workpieces. Their internal ball bearing structure enables objects to move freely in all directions.
Key Features:
360° Universal Rotation: Minimises friction for effortless handling.
High Load Capacity: Suitable for materials of varying weights.
Flexible Installation: Can be integrated into conveyor platforms, workbenches, or machinery.
Durable Materials: Typically manufactured from carbon steel, stainless steel, or engineering plastics.
Working Principle:
When an external force propels an object pressing against the roller and moves it, friction causes the outer wheel to rotate. The rotational force from the outer wheel is transmitted to the outer ring of the internal bearing. Through the rolling motion of the balls, this ultimately drives the inner ring of the bearing to rotate relative to the fixed shaft. This process converts sliding friction into rolling friction, thereby significantly reducing the resistance to motion.
Differences from Similar Components
Differences from Ordinary Wheels: Ordinary wheels may lack built-in bearings, resulting in sliding friction directly against the axle. This causes high resistance and rapid wear. Ball Rollers invariably incorporate ball bearings.
Differences from Ball Transfer Units: This is the most commonly confused concept.
Ball Roller: Typically rotates only around a fixed central axis, providing unidirectional rolling.
Ball Transfer Unit: Its core comprises a large ball surrounded by multiple smaller balls, enabling free rolling in any direction (360°). Commonly found on assembly line workbenches.
Application Areas:
Conveyor and assembly lines
Packaging machinery
Warehousing and logistics systems
Baggage handling equipment
Handling of electronic and precision equipment
Precision-engineered ball rollers ensure low-friction transport and reliable performance for industrial automation and logistics.
