The Ball Transfer Unit is an industrial conveyor element consisting of one or more balls, with a free-spinning main ball at the top and a supporting ball or balls at the bottom, which enables objects to be moved easily in any direction. It is often mounted on conveyor tables, workbenches or handling equipment for smooth multi-directional conveying, rotation and positioning.

A typical Ball Transfer Unit consists of three key components:
Load Ball:
This is an exposed, smooth-surfaced, large-diameter ball (usually made of steel, stainless steel, plastic, or nylon) that is in direct contact with and carries the weight of the object being transferred.
Small Balls:
Below the carrier ball, a series of small precision balls (similar to those in a ball bearing) are evenly spaced in a bowl-shaped chamber. These small balls support the carrier ball above.
Housing :
This is a strong metal (usually steel or stainless steel) housing, machined internally to a precise bowl profile, which holds all the small balls and carrier balls.

Working Principle:
When a loaded object is pressed against the load ball and moved in any direction, friction causes the ball to rotate. The rotational force of the ball is transferred to the small ball at the bottom, which then rolls inside the bowl seat. This process converts sliding friction in all directions into rolling friction, resulting in nearly omni-directional, extremely labour-saving motion.

The Ball Transfer Unit usually consists of the following parts:
- Main ball (main ball): mounted at the top, it is in direct contact with the object and is responsible for carrying the load.
- Small steel ball (load-bearing ball): support the main ball inside the shell, play the role of rolling guidance and load dispersion.
- Shell: generally made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc., used to fix the main ball and support structure.
- Mounting base or flange: used to mount the whole set on a platform or structure.
