Ball Roller

MS3303
A ball roller is a mechanical component that integrates ball bearings into an outer ring. Its core function is to support, guide, or convey objects by leveraging the low-friction properties of ball bearings, thereby enabling smooth linear or rotational motion.

A typical ball roller comprises three key components:

Outer Wheel/Tire:

This is the part that comes into direct contact with the load or guided object.

It is typically manufactured from wear-resistant materials such as hardened steel, stainless steel, engineering plastics (e.g., nylon, polyurethane), or rubber. Material selection depends on application requirements (e.g., load capacity, noise levels, potential for surface scratching).

Ball Bearing:

This forms the core of the entire assembly. It is precisely pressed or fitted into the inner ring of the wheel.

Within the bearing are precision-made balls that roll freely between the inner and outer rings.

Shaft:

A pin or bolt passes through the bearing's inner bore, securing the entire roller to the machine or equipment.

Operating Principle:
When an external force presses against the roller and moves it, friction causes the outer ring to rotate. The rotational force from the outer ring is transmitted to the inner bearing raceway. Through the rolling motion of the balls, this ultimately drives the inner bearing raceway to rotate relative to the fixed shaft. This process converts harmful sliding friction into efficient rolling friction, thereby significantly reducing movement resistance.

Key Features and Advantages
360° omnidirectional rotation: minimises friction for effortless manoeuvring.

High precision and smooth motion: Ensures stable movement and accurate positioning, preventing jamming or jerking.

High load capacity: Despite compact construction, premium ball bearings can withstand
